And those bits which would have given us some hints about his personality, like his remarks about trivias like women, or liquor are largely inconsistent throughout the game, all of which makes his character rather mundane and lacking in depth. To make the matter worse, there's very little interactions between major characters in DFC, so Kian barely knows Zoe or April until the very end of the game. But as he had only limited appearances in DF, and suddenly became a major protagonist in this game now, it's really hard to feel investigated in his character, especially when there's little storyline to give insights to his personality.
If we had more playtime with Kian in DF like Zoe, it wouldn't have been so bad maybe. One of the biggest problems in Dreamfall Chapters is that, unlike its predecessors, it forces us to split our playing time between two or more playable characters for the most part of the game, which unfortunately made it difficult to feel investigated in such characters like Kian. While I can see the points in your argument, I'd rather points out the fact that the character of Kian in this game is so underdeveloped in my opinion, that any kind of more intimate relationship - gay or not - might have improved the situation greatly. I get enough of that ♥♥♥♥ with my female friends trying to get me to date the one other gay person they know. As a gay man who enjoys narrative driven games, I like to be catered. Honestly, I actually quit chapter 3 and started over when it became clear that Kian could be gay and there were many hints of something happening with Likho, so I replayed the game supporting him. Kian in the end had more romance with Anna, a girl he thought of as a weird stalker, and Enu, than with ? We have a canon gay character with another likely canon gay character.and nothing happens. And all those times where you got to kiss Anna, he only did because he felt sorry for her. Not because he actually desires men and this is part of his character, but because he blurts it out for no reason and is never addressed again. Turned out Kian was always gay, apparently. I thought they were actually going somewhere with this, somewhere nice. There was heavy chemistry between Kian and Likho and the latter even implied he was gay. The following chapters seemed to support this.
In the early episodes there were hints that his sexuality was malleable, you could kiss Anna if you wanted a straight romance, or become closer to Likho if you chose. It seems like he was written by three different people, all of whom were isolated from each other. I can't get over or understand the bizarre decisions that were made writing this character.
